Braces that make a statement from our orthodontist in Edgware

Most patients that require orthodontic care would prefer not to use a brace, but the question becomes how to make the treatment convenient and compatible. This has already happened with teen braces being available in a wide range of funky colours with fashionable colour schemes. Iconix at our Orthodontist in Edgware takes this idea to adult dentistry and makes a brace that combines a stylish adult aesthetic with a functional piece of medical equipment while also being the Rolex of braces. Fine jewellery for your teeth!

Aesthetic brace

When Iconix began to redesign the brace, they started with all of the fundamental components, the brackets and the archwire and looked into how they could be better presented. They upgraded materials to a high lustre stainless steel with white-gold finishes and improved manufacturing tolerances and geometry.

This generally improved the convenience, comfort and longevity of the brace. But really, its goal is to take the brace from something that is seen as distracting from your aesthetics and turn it into a centrepiece and an accessory, one that you can be proud of.

Lingual options

For those looking at our orthodontist in Edgware treatment options and insisting on a brace that is as hard as possible to spot, the lingual option might be for you. With lingual systems, the brackets can be fitted behind your teeth, with the archwire running across the inside of the mouth as opposed to the front. This keeps them out of sight but also makes them more obstructive to talking and eating.

This is why lingual braces require far more engineering to produce extremely low-profile brackets that are individually fabricated to cup the rear side of each tooth. Unlike the standard brace that can be assembled from off-the-shelf components, these factors make lingual braces significantly more expensive.

Going beyond the brace

The use of clear aligners to correct dental misalignments has its place in low-impact orthodontic care, giving some of the functions of a brace with much less impact on everyday life and the convenience of being able to remove them to eat.

They are often the most cost-effective option for cosmetic work, but their limited effectiveness and moving profiles will always leave a need for a metal brace.

Future of adult orthodontics

With more adult patients arriving at our clinic, it seems that further developments in orthodontic tools targeted to working professionals are only a matter of time. Whether there are going to be high-culture luxury jewellery braces or better versions of the invisible or low-impact braces is unclear. However, what is certain is that the standards of adult patients are far higher than the teens of the past, requiring their care to be balanced with busy schedules and important public speaking and business events.

We are happy to have new adult patients at our orthodontist in Edgware. If you’re curious about how we at Katz and Madhok Orthodontics could help you, please feel free to get in contact with our clinic as we are currently accepting applications for new patients.
